First make sure the device you are working on is FDA register for the protection of all clients and therapists. It is hard for me to answer as I feel both are great for the clients.
Lets start with the closed system; it needs a table (massage table style) and works with a speculum (about 1/2 to 1 inch in diameter) with a waste hose and a water hose that is connected to the device wich has filtered water attached. This water is temperature/pressure controlled by a professioanl therapist. While the client is resting comfortably on a table the therapist will make sure the client is communicates the need to eliminate the water/material throughnthe waste hose into the sewer system. This device also has a client pressure meter that allows the therapist to see the needs of the client to eliminate.
The open system normally has a built in table for the client to lay on that is fiberglass and uses a rectal nozzle that is pencil thin. The waste will be able to release through the rectum into a channel on to the sewer system. The water is delivered to the client via a tank that holds filtered delivering it through gravity and temperature controlled.
That is a great question...for years manual lymph drainnage has seen many benefits and I was the first to say how important it is for healing. The introduction of the bio electric technology showed me the opening of lymph flow at a different level. The BELD device allows lymph congestion to move easier and the body to repair in a different way that I have experienced in the past. I was told that 1 hour of BELD is compared to 4 hours of manual lymph nd I personaly beleive that for sure.
I would like to say no but I would be wrong...this training is an hands on profession that needs compassionate therapist that are able and willing emotionally and physically. That would mean that all potential student need to be physically able to sanitize all devices and support clients in their needs toward colon hydrotherapy.
